Ragged Island Brewing Company has over 37 acres of open space, wetlands, farmlands, and two unique buildings to host private parties/events. We have a variety of spaces available for rent depending on the size of your party and the needs of your event — find out more about each of our spaces below and contact us for further rental information!

The Brewery Barn

The Brewery Barn is a 3600-square-foot pole barn that has been completely renovated to allow for a state-of-the-art beer production facility.  It also serves as a secondary taproom/event space.  This area has a seating capacity for 75-80 guests indoors, as well as an outdoor space that can host several hundred people.  There are private bathrooms and an 8-tap bar serving a rotating selection of our beers.  The outdoor space is nearly 2 acres and allows for a lot of fun activities and has a 20’x20’ tent that is available for your use as well.  Ragged Island will provide a bartender with this rental.

Other Rental Features:

Up to 80 guests seated indoors with cocktail tables, bench seating, and/or 6 ft folding tables and chairs.

Room for 150-200 guests for a casual indoor/outdoor setting.  Requires an additional staff member to help manage parking.

Hosts can choose the music style playing in the background.

Food can be brought in by the event organizer (pizza delivery/sandwich platters, etc.) or a catering company, or even a food truck.  Ragged Island does not help with securing these vendors, but we can certainly work with our guests and the food vendor of your choice.

Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Rental Fees (with 3-hour minimum):

  • Mon-Wed: $300
  • Thursdays are unavailable
  • Fri-Sat: $700
  • Sun: $500
  • Any additional hours are billed at $100/hour
  • Parties of 80-200 guests require an additional event staff member at $50/hour
  • Basic tables and chairs are available, including seating at 4 beer garden bench/tables, and/or 6 high top tables with chairs, and/or up to 10 6-foot rectangular tables with 6 folding chairs per table.
  • Additional tables ($20/table) and chairs ($5/chair) are available for rent

The Sunset Deck

Our top-level deck, with 180-degree water views overlooking Narragansett Bay, hosts a maximum of 60 guests.  This space is 21+, so no one under the age of 21 can attend an event in this space.  Our dedicated event staff guarantees your guest will not have to wait in line for a beer and can continue to have fun.  This area has several seating and table options.

The Greenhouse

Our greenhouse space is also available for private events.  This area can host upwards of 50 guests with high-top tables and stools included.  Our dedicated event staff guarantees your guest will not have to wait in line for a beer and can continue to have fun.

Field Rentals

Ragged Island Brewing Company’s allowed hours of operation under our current Special Use Permit with the Town of Portsmouth are noon – 9 p.m. Our Farm is in a residential zone which restricts our activities. In order to be open later  10 pm or even 11 pm), we would need an Agricultural special use permit.

Depending on how traditional or casual you want the event to be, there are several ways we can offer you space on the farm — including our greenhouse, brewery barn, and sunset deck. For larger events, a“field” rental for a wedding is also an option. However, it comes with a few more caveats, including live music restrictions (no amplification unless granted permission via special use permit), tent rentals, electric generator rental, toilet rentals, etc. Basically, you have to build a wedding venue for yourself on the farm.  If you are bringing in a catering company, they will want to pour all of the alcohol, so that is also a challenge for us as we are only a brewery and only sell beer. We can sell our beer to the catering company via retail sales, and then they can pour more than beer; that is up to you.

Because this option is much more invasive to our normal operating procedures we do have a premium of $8,000 for a venue rental fee.  $2000 is a guarantee so that we can go before the town and present our goal of hosting your wedding.  If approved (most likely it will be, we do special events all the time, and for now, we are considered a very good neighbor, and the Town administration really likes us), we can work with you and your planners to host an excellent event.
